Help with User Stats & Signatures for Forums

Hi.

This message is aimed at Mr Liam McDermott.

Liam,

I am trying to use two of your Drupal contributed modules on an installation of Drupal and I just cannot get either of them to work.

I am using Drupal 6.2.
I realise that the two contrib modules (User Stats and Signatures For Forums by the way) are both in alpha and may have bugs but I don't think that is my problem.

My problem is that both modules do not seem to do anything and I think it is more likely that I have done something wrong rather than a bug.

I have only just started using Drupal so I am kinda walking around in the dark with it.

I have downloaded the modules and extracted them.

I created a directory called 'sites/all/modules' as instructed by Drupal docs.

I ftp'd the two contrib modules directories into the 'sites/all/modules' directory.

I activated the two modules in the admin section of my drupal site and also checked the settings that appear for each contrib module in the admin section once they have been activated.

And...nothing happens.

The signatures for forums module deosn't seem to do anything that the signature module included with drupal 6.2 does, except on one occasion placing the same signature twice on all posts until I de-activated it and re-activated it again.

The user stats module just does not do anything.
I checked your article about the user stats module and I followed the instructions.

I did not make any changes to the 'node-forum.tpl.php' file as I read the article to mean that I only mess around with that file if I was creating my own theme.
Is that right?
Or should I mess with that file to use with the themes that come with drupal too?

I would really appreciate any advice or help you could give me.

As I said, I think it is infinitely more likely that I have done something wrong somewhere along the way but I suppose it could be the case that the modules just do not work with version 6.2 of drupal.

Thanks,
broddr
