Price is very cheap for windows web hosting. I have no idea how neowebspace.com manage to provide such cheap prices. If I were you I'd as them directly about that. And try to investigate if they provide any trial period. First opinion - great.

There a survey devoted to Linux vs Windows , especially to the side of their costs

Anyway, if your site needs Windows, there are established companies that specialize in Windows hosting plans, accuwebhosting.com, sibername.com, jodohost.com.

Windows web hosting requires to pay for the license as well. And at the same time windows is easy to manage I guess. Maybe that's why prices might look totally the same.

The general tendency to go for Windows, only if Linux can't handle your site, this is usually when your site uses asp. Probably Windows platform is safer than Linux.

Generally, Linux is believed to be secure enough, but there are some applications that require better security than Linux can offer, if interested in this issue you may follow the link
http://biznix.org/articles/linsecure.html, I just like the title of the article "Linux Unfit For the National Security" and it questions wisdom of the decision to use Linux for the designs of military hardware.
As for the pricing, I think the gap between Windows and Linux hosting packages is getting smaller and smaller.Say 2GBs of disk space and 5Gbs of bandwidth cost about $12.00 moin Sibername.com plans, I think the pricing is very typical for Linux hosting as well.

Usually Windows hosting is more expensive than Linux and more difficult to handle.

Except that the article you linked to is from 2004, the US military is using Linux successfully and the NSA has created a hardened version called SELinux. The French police (Gendarmerie specifically) have switched to Linux and OpenOffice, plenty of governments trust it for their national security.
That article may have been relevant four years ago, but in present day it's nothing more than poorly-thought-out FUD. I don't disagree that there are 'some applications' where Linux is not a good fit, but that goes for any general-purpose OS. I wouldn't trust Windows, Linux, Solaris or any other OS to run medical equipment, voting machines, aeroplane instruments etc.
For Web servers, supercomputers, embedded and almost everything else (another argument), Linux is--and continues to be--the ideal fit.

JeevesBond, I do agree with you. But if your hired developer said you need to purchase windows web hosting.... And you are trying to find the cheapest and the most quality one. neowebspace.com was the one.
Actually I have signed up for them for several days and for now I have to say that I'm happy. Hiope they will be doing their best for me.

Yeah, don't worry, I wasn't bashing you for using Windows. I was just disagreeing with what demopaul said about it not being secure, that is total BS.
