what is domain pointing?
hi,
I am confused here . what is domain pointing?
is it for example:
if I create a folder at mydomain.com/myseconddomain/page1.htm
and then point my seconddomain.com to that folder.
visitors to my website will see seconddomain.com/page1.htm
am I right?
and is it the same thing as CNAME?
thanks

Yes, you can have two ways:
1. yoursite.com
2. yoursite.com/seconddomainpointedtothisdirectory
So, depending upon how your host configues it (they also call it domain aliasing) in the first case the your second domain just points to yoursite.com and that's it and in the second case your second domain points to a specific directory of yoursite.com and ayone can access all other directories in that account from your seconddomain.com ie. they can type seconddomain.com/someotherdirectoryonyoursite and as if now seconddomain.com acts as a domain by itself.
You can use this feature to have one hosting account and use several domains to point to different directories of your site and they will act like "independent sites" from the vistor's standpoint. However, search engines usually spider the pages with the first domain or in some cases they will use all domains pointing to that account and this can cause confusion for users coming in from search engines as they would not know what page is on what site (or rather domain name).
