Depends on your needs and price range. You can get a lot for $10 bucks a month. Several I like are:
hostrocket.com - I use them and have no problems at all hostmatters.com - People behind it seem to be pretty nice and they get good comments from customers thinkhost.com
What strikes me as a little bit strange is that out of the 2 posts you made, both were promoting hostingroute.com... Were they THAT GOOD that you felt the need to register and promote their services here? I don't mean to be rude, but it does sound a little fishy- if you could please post your domain that you host with them for verification purposes that would be excellent.
Okay... this type of thing (trying to promote your own services) is not allowed at TWF. Please try to refrain from spamming the forums. You'll find that this does not help your business too much anyway, as most of the time customers want to go with an _honest_ host... and giving a testimonial about a hosting service you own isn't exactly honest.
Can we get mod for this forum or an admin to delete those posts?
I'm not sure if any feedback about spamming was directed to me. If so, then continue reading; If not, then ignore this post.
I DETEST PERSONAL PROMOTIONS, SPAMMING, ECT, ECT!

Uh... The TOPIC of this thread is about suggestions for CHEAP WEB HOSTS!!! Now if the entire topic is "off limits," then fine! Remove the whole thread!

As far as "personal promotion" on forums--I am Totally against it! I've noticed that many members have footers inserted in their messages with links to web sites. I suppose most of it is "legitimate," though I'm sure it's also an abused resource as well. You'll NEVER find any links in the footer of my messages.
suggestion: How about putting those footer links in a members profile, so they're available only if a surfer wants to see them; I think that's a bit more appropriate. Any thoughts???

The message was directed at "hgandhi"... ProHosting is pretty big from my understanding, so I did not think they were your service. Usually I get suspicious, though, if someone posts a great recommendation of a host I had never heard of, without including their URL, and has only a few posts here at TWF.. Which is what hgandhi did.
BTW- Re: the signature issue: Promotion is actually what the signatures are intended for. We don't want people cluttering up the forums with SPAM, but if a user gives helpful replies, we didn't see any problem with having a signature at the end of each post to "reward" that member's efforts. In other words, links to your sites in a signature IS ok, as that is supposed to encourage users to visit your site if they find your comments to be useful. Hopefully that clarifies the issue a little bit .
I have nothing but compliments for XO Communications. The support, Pricing plans and speed of their servers are great. i've got 20 POP3 boxes, 100 mb space, 5000mb of traffic for about 23 bucks. they have all the cool stuff like php, cgi, flash, SSI and SSL.
Adios!

You need to determine your requirements and then find reputable hosts who can fit your needs.
I use futurequest.net because not only did they have an excellent reputation, they fit my needs.
And remember that you get what you pay for.
I found the last time I posted in here was in 1999 when I was looking for a host. Ive been at FQ since.
A less expensive place for basic services which is probably good is npsis.com .
FQ has a community forum on aota.net/forums and from there you can find and see member sites.
Hehe,I still haven't found the perfect HOST after 3 years.
I have often come close in finding it but most of the time it's just a dream. I guess the only solution is to get my own server and be the King of my own kingdom(server) and tweak it for best performance with all kinds of features and perhaps make some money renting out web space to off-set the high cost of renting/owning one. Just my thoughts:)
As they say "One man's food is another's poison" so it's quite a wide range when defining who is the best HOST. Good luck in your search for the best HOST.

Chicken,
If you listed your hosting requirements it would be easier for people to know what you want and recommend accordingly.

Chicken,
That's still a very open ended question.
Best Unix host?
Best NT host?
Best E-commerce host?
Best FrontPage host?
Best tech support host?
Best overall price host?
etc
etc
As you can see, it's like asking what the best pizza is.

Well, that's a start.
Still, you need to know what OS, what bandwidth, any specific/special needs like a shopping cart, SSL/secure server, CGI-BIN, web stats etc.
It's like saying "What's the best mid-size car that comes in blue?" Very open ended.

chicken3--
Here's a "cheap" service that has some nice options...
50 megs of disk space
FTP access
run CGI / SSI scripts
and for $24.95 a year, you can remove their banner ads.

Thanks for clarifying those issues. Yes, I can appreciate your reasoning behind the signature links.
And I apologize to all for being a bit emotional in my earlier post.
