Truth about Streaming
I have seen lots of requests for hosting accounts to host YouTube clones.
And I was wondering if this type of hosting requires some specific web servers or hosts simply use the same web servers they use for every other accounts like forum, blog and cms hosting?

Hosting a video site requires way more robust hardware, especially if it draws significant traffic. The web server has to handle converting videos between formats which can be very CPU and memory intensive.
A lot of web servers don't have video converting software out of the box like ffmpeg. It may have to be installed manually.

What does the following thing mean
(all via HTTP streaming)
Does it mean Serverpoint.com allows video streaming on shared accounts?

I think so. It is obvious that ServerPoint.com supports video streaming services on their shared web hosting. They have to provide enough amount of CPU, bandwidth and RAM for that.

Yes, they would support streaming, but no, they would not support something like a YouTube clone. Video hosting sites require extensive background operations, such as reformatting video after it is uploaded. I am almost positive that you will not be able to host a video sharing site on a shared account.

The amount of CPU and RAM on shared plans won't let you have YouTube site on the shared account, but you can easily start this project on the vps plan from serverpoint.com.
Do not click my links - this might be damage your PC.

The only must for a YouTube clone is a FFMPeg, it can be hosted on any account- shared, vps or dedicated.
