Transferring domains / IP addresses - help!
I have a number of domain names registered to the company I work for. At the moment these 'point' to our web site which is hosted by a hosting company - their DNS addresses are registered for our domain names. Several of the domain names are registered through Verisign (Network Solutions) - a decision that dates from before my time.
Now we are running our own web server and our web site is visible on our fixed IP address. (http://213.107.221.13 - not quite finished yet!)
We have two DNS servers also running and each has it's own IP address.
What I need to do now is get the DNS addresses relating to our domain name changed to the addresses of our DNS machines.
Versign will not accept my IP addresses as addresses for our DNS. I have spoken to one of their representatives, and had an 'online chat' with a support technician, but I still don't understand why not, or what I need to do to get my domain name to resolve to our web server.
Can anyone help me??

um, just change the ip's for the nameservers, the ip of ur site doesn't matter. ns might want u to register ur nameserves.
maybe this helps, but i doubt it, question was hard for me to understand.

Have you got the nameservers pointing to your IP Address? You will need to do this. If you do a whois search and give me the results I may be able to help

What I had to do was:
(1) register my DNS servers with Verisign. What confused me was that I had to give them a name, and the only domain I had to use was the one I was trying to set up! However apparently you can do this...
I named them ns1.elandigitalsystems.com and ns2.elandigitalsystems.com.
(2) Once this had gone through you can edit the setup for your domain and change the name servers to the ones you have just registered.
(3) then you wait... After about 72 hours everything has settled down and now elandigitalsystems.com points to our site. (very much under development!)
It seems a bit bizare to me that you register name servers using a name that doesn't point anywhere yet but it seemed to work.
