Strangest Domain Story?
What the weirdest experience you've had with domains?
I guess mine would be that I once sold a domain for $5000, then a year
later found out it was available again! I re-registered it, attempted to contact
the owner with an offer to give it to them for registration cost (thought it
was the right thing to do) but never heard back from them.
If I recall correctly, I resold the domain... but not for nearly as much.
What's your story?

Well about the closest to strange I have, is more a stupidy on other people's parts. I have a domain name that was once owned by a large company. They had the .com and .net. Well one day I was chekcing aorund and the .net was available. I grabbed it. Every other common version is taken (.org, .biz .cc .info and several ones in other countries).
Well for a long time, I didn't have any site on the domain, but would put up sites for my self and others a domain.com/whatever The domain itself appeared to not have a domain name, and I had about 20 people who I set up e-mail forwarding (it is my family name, so set a lot of family up at [email protected].
Anyhow for about 3 years I would get an e-mail about once every few months asking me "since you are not using the domain, can you give it to me". You know, doains don't get used unless there is a site there... LOL I finally stopped explaining things to people and told them to reply with their offer of at least $1000 or don't write back. Never heard from anyone.
