Hello,

You can perform few tests to check the speed of your web host ::
1) You can test by pinging there server.
2) Secondly, you can perform traceroute.
3) You can ask the host for test download file to judge speed.

Please let me know in case you have any more queries in this regards, I will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

Which one out of the three ways do you find the most reliable?

Before signing up with any company I ping them and only after it I decide what to do.
When I pinged ServerPoint.com and saw that their speed is very good I decided to be with them.

I pinged Webhostingbuzz.com. Then I read about them on the forums and contacted their support and contacted the customers that left testimonials on their web site and only after it I signed up with them.

Netcraft usually have interesting reports on the most reliable Web hosts, including their response times etc. The Web server survey is arse however. Smiling

I'm also with Webhostingbuzz.com, and before signing up, I tested the IP they offer a lot, asked my friends to ping from different places.

I usually ask a host to give upload/download file to check the speed of the company. At least I have done the same with HqHost.net.

I didn't know that this service is possible. Good for HqHost.net that they provide it.

Using a download file is the most reliable way from what I read at other forums.
@ Knorr: that's not a service, any conmpany not just hqhost.net will do it to prove to their clients they are stable and reliable.
