Hello,
My name is Sue Johnson.
I was directed to this forum by a friend of mine, she thought maybe someone here could help me.
You see I built this new website (http://www.nemr.net/~cathaven/) it's a cat breeder directory, to list purbred cat breeders from around the world.
Well, once it was built we decided to get it a registered domain name. So I ran across Registerfly.com they offered website hosting, domains at a reasonable price, 24 hour support line and 30 day money back guarantee.

Well, we signed up and bought the name cathaven.net, then also paid for a year's worth of web hosting. ($117.00)

When I got a letter to confirm everything from them, I noticed they had cathaven.com down.

I e-mailed them back and pointed out this mistake.

(Cathaven.com was already taken) they said they were sorry and would take care of it.

Well, the days went buy and my site was still not up, they kept giving us excuses about what was going on.

Always saying they were sorry, and they would get the problems figured out.

Mean while, our site was at a stand still waiting for Registerfly to get it up.

This is a quote that came from one of the e-mails we recieved from Registerfly.com:

"I just want you to know that your order was the first EVER that I have
processed through our new interface (plesk) and it confused the heck out of
me. All of the problems were caused by me since I have never used the
software before your order. This is not how it is going to be in the future."

This is one of many e-mails we got from Registerfly.com
After trying to reach them for days via e-mail and phone messages.
I told them...."We are not at all happy and they did not stand up to their part in this agreement and I wanted my money back."

They then turned around and said the reason our site was not up was because we messed something up in the settings.

We NEVER even seen our site up on cathaven.net...NEVER ONCE!

Little did they know we had not yet taken it down from the current hosting which was our local telephone Co.

It still remains there.

And as you can see, nothing is wrong with it.

It is in perfect shape.

I believe they not only made a screw up on calling our name wrong and messing up the setting themselves and blaming us. I think they made such a mess of things they don't even want to tell us.

We continue to e-mail them and call them...they will not answer us.
We are not rich people, we have four children and bills to pay, we can't afford to throw $117 away like this.

I can not believe that a company on the internet can just screw things up like this and rip you off and get away with it!

SOMEONE, anyone...PLEASE advise me...what do I do??

Please send any e-mails to us at:

[email protected]

Thank you to anyone...that can offer me advise as to what to do about this problem.

I don't know whether it's accociated with what you registered but I guess it's already registered to you as it has your email records if I am not mistaken.

Seeing that this is your first time in going about to register a domain name and also getting the domain hosted on a server there's a thread about it at:

http://www.webmaster-forums.com/showthread.php?threadid=13310

If the domain name already belongs to you (if the records is correct) then read the above thread in getting your domain hosted on a server which you have already paid in advance.

Register.con is a reputable domain registrar company and they would seldom make such a mistake, anyway not to worry if it's really a mistake on their part I am sure they will refund your money.

Try to be patient and sort it out in an amicable manner and ask your HOST to help if you are new at it as the HOST is not responsible for the uploading of your files to their server and changing the domain name IP's(Primary & Secondary) to point to HOST's server as it is neccessary before your domain name can work. You have to do it yourself.

Hope this helps,

Regards,
NSS

I am sorry Sue that I got the domain name registerar mixed up as you mentioned registerfly.com and not register.com

Anyway, all domain name registrars provide similar service and the only difference is accessing your domain name records in case you need to make changes to it.

their excuse about PLESK being confusing is a Farce. I've used, sold and implemented PLESK and i can attest that any monkey getting his daily dose of bananas can handle it.
