Elara,
Would you mind telling us what you like about each of these companies? If it is because you are getting so many features for so little of a price, I would suggest re-thinking your strategies in choosing a host. I have talked with way to many people that were like you 6 months ago and have now been "burned" by two or three different hosts because they went for the cheapest they could find that offered the most features. Now I am by no means saying that either SmartHosting or Matrixcubed will do this but any host can.
I suggest you sit down and realistically think about what your site needs, create a list and then decide the maximum price you are willing to pay for what you need. Then go in search of hosts - any host that meets or beats your needs, add them to a list and when you have a good sized list. Begin deeper analysis of each host. Fire off some e-mails to each to measure response times. Ask them some "dumb" questions and see how they handle them.
A very good article on searching for a host can be found at http://www.hosthelp.com/hostshopping.php.
The reason I am giving this information is because of the saying "If it looks to good to be true, it probably is!"
My opinion as to which you should try would be Smarthosting.com because they use less "Unlimited" and state exactly what you get with each package. But whichever road you take, I suggest doing a lot of research on a host before you choose them. Send some e-mails to each of these hosts and check response time, their attitude towards newbies (ask some dumb questions - not implying you are a newbie either). If you like what you find in one of these hosts, I would suggest going for it.
I wish you luck in finding a host and I truly hope you find one that isn't going to let you down! To do this, you will only need to do a little homework! Let us know what you find!

Chad,
Thanks for helping me choosing a good host. Frankly speaking I need everything in smarthosting.com except for the pre-installed scripts, FP98 extensions, MSQL and Real Video. Other features are important to me, especially the humongous disk space, php, perl, telnet, crontab, MySQL and others. I have sent some emails to them, and they reply my mail very fast, I can't spot anything suspectable. I haven't asked them silly questions yet, which i think i might do rite after this post.
Thank you very much Chad.

Hi,
just one thing about the "fast answers":
Usually a provider is very fast with his answers before you sign the contract.
Afterwards ... well you just can't judge him on that. He may be fast, but he may not. That's really not a point to consider at all.
Check out who is hosted by them and contact those webmasters.
And (as I said somewhere before) try to get a demo-account.
ciao

Yeah anti, you are right, I'm aware of this issue too. So that's why I've made a post on this board to see if there are any angry customers of them.
anti, where's your site hosted? Are you sastified with them?
Thank you
