Reseller accounts and domain switchover

Hi there,

This question is aimed at the web devs who may have some experience working with reseller accounts. Basically here is the senario:

I have 2 hosting packages in operation at the moment with the same reseller.

1. One is currently handling the domain: mydomian.com

Its name servers are below:

ns3.h365.com -> 1.1.1.1
ns2.h365.com -> 1.1.1.1
ns1.h365.com -> 1.1.1.1

2. The second is currently a stop-gap domain on which a new website is being developed.

Its name servers are below:

ns1.h365.com -> 1.1.1.2
ns2.h365.com -> 1.1.1.2
ns3.h365.com -> 1.1.1.2

What I wish to do is have the second package take over hosting of the domain mydomian.com. Am I correct in assuming:

By setting up the new domain on package 2, along with all the e-mail address etc, I can then turn off package 1 and package 2 will serve mydomian.com?

Thanx in advance....

Justin

The name servers you have listed on both the packages look the same, are they supposed to be different?

Are you planning on changing where the name servers actually point, or just changing the name servers for the domain to the new package? If you are just changing the name servers from one reseller account to another, and the single account is on both the reseller accounts, then updating the name servers to the new location you would like should work.

Hi there,

Both hosting packages are using the same name servers. So my plan is to the delete the domain mydomain.com on the package that currently hosts it, and add it to the second one - thus switching the folder that serves: mydomain.com???

Hello Jusmeig,

Could you be more specific on the Operating system (Linux/Windows) and the control panel (Plesk/cPanel) on the server where the website is hosted ?

I think if you have packages on the same reseller you'd better contact you web hosting provider support team. I think that you save your time and pehaps your money in this case.
