I am finding this forum to be very useful. I currently host 3 sites with a provider using their reseller plan. Due to poor network performance and lackluster support, I am scouting around for other options. Are their any opinions or experiences out there with these hosts?
1. OLM - NOC near Chicago
2. addr.com - I think colocates with above.net
3. aitcom.net - NOC in Fayetteville, NC

My current usage is about 100 megs disk, 400 meg bandwidth/month. I need all email services (pop, alias, forwarding), dedicated CGI-BIN, 24x7 FTP/Telnet access, SSL and secure server for online store processing. Nice to haves would be real aud/vid, Java servlets capability, chat, database access, and a good reseller plan.

My total monthly outlay is currently $80. I would like to keep it in that ballpark or lower.

Any other hosting provider recommendations will be fully appreciated.

My friend was once a reseller, of a reseller of OLM. He went with icestorm.net and actually got cheaper prices than olm itself and the support was also good. I am not sure if icestorm is still a reseller, but if they are, you can go with them and save some money!

I've heard a lot good and bad about them. Mainly, bigger companies seem to like them but that's REAL big companies. A lot of smaller sites seem to have problems for sure and the tech support is not great.

I've known a few people on them. They seem deceent, perl works ok, not great though. Speed was always ok but not great and they have some transfer limits for sure but they're not bad...

Stay away to put it simply. You've heard horror stories about many hosts most likely but the ones I could tell about this host would top them all (well many of them)....

As for my own recomendations... (if you care).... I would recomend dreamhost.com for a normal host with reseller options and such and www.webpg.net for dedicated severs (nopt a nie website but great speed and tech support)....

OLM tech support does indeed seem to give priority to bigger clients which means smaller companies/clients can be ignored Sad
