NY/NJ recommendations?
Can anyone recommend a good cheap reliable web host/ISP in the NY/NJ area? This is for hosting of a simple web site/domain possible dialup access, and email (with aliasing?).
Must have decent support and be user friendly for a novice.
Thanks in advance

Actually, by local, I meant "pick up the phone and call" local or "dial-in through the modem" local. Something that a novice, small business user would feel comfortable with - something "mom & pop-ish"
Thanks for the tip.

Is it a requirement that the ISP provide webspace? Wouldn't it be better to get a good ISP and then go shopping for a separate web site host? It will be nearly impossible to find both in one package. I live in northern Jersey, and I use RCN for dial-up Internet access. I never get busy signals and I hardly ever get kicked off. I recommend them.

Personally, I would not get hosting from an ISP. Especially a small ISP.
Many ISP's have problems doing just the dial-up! Heaven help you if you put a website with them too!!
Go with a company that specializes in hosting (i.e. does nothing but hosting). You'll be happier in the long run.

Hi,
I totally agree with Jaiem. Large (or small) ISPs seems to offer good deals on their hosting but often their packages lack features, have small bandwidth, etc.
Moreover, their support will be more focused on Interent Access than on helping with hosting, server side programming, etc.

The local company who provides most of my hosting is an ISP also. They may be an anomaly, but I've had terrific service over the years. Unfortunately, they are Canadian and can't bill in US$
The reason I'm looking for something local and "user-friendly" is that I'm not sure how involved I'll be with this new project in the long term. Internet access is secondary in this case. I just thought it would be nice to find a US company that I would feel comfortable recommending to this and future clients.
