I am just starting out and was wondering if somebody can recommend me a good hosting service to use with Access database and ASP?

I'd reccomend either InnerHost (www.innerhost.com), Windows Web Host (www.windowswebhost.com), or Burlee (www.burlee), though that's just from hearing people comment on them.

Innerhost is by fair the most popular amongst ASP programmers (I’ve reviewed them before, see http://216.10.4.112/forums/showthread.php?threadid=4120).

I’ve also used Interland, HostWay, and WiredHosting’s NT packages. I did not have any problems with either Interland or Hostway but I would not recommend them. WiredHosting on the other hand is a small company and offers NT packages at a lower price ($13 -$30). I used them for a site with basic ASP includes and tested out the Access Database support but never used it. I’ve since converted the site to static HTML and put it on my Linux server. I’ll be sure to use them again next time I need basic ASP and Access Database support.

Good luck!

I've heard good things about http://www.intermedia.net, also.

I have two NT accounts with http://www.powersurge.net . Their service is definitely one that I would recommend.

I personally stay away from NT hosting, but I did at one time host with Burlee.com: the results were mixed...decent service, but nothing noteworthy of outstanding. This guy, however, hates them:

Worth a look at least...I saw shades of these problems when I was with them, but luckily nothing came from them.

I have been fairly happy with Burst.net, although they seem to be focused more on Unix hosting. Their control panel and FAQs for NT accounts have become much more useful than when I first signed up in April, but they still have a ways to go. They've been a bit on the slow side regarding email support questions, though. Luckily after a site is all set up one doesn't need to worry about that as often. I've heard that they're better with AIM and phone inquiries -- things which are more difficult to do from my day-job office than email.

They charge $18.95/month for their lower-end NT package.

I have been hosted by both powersurge.net and burst.net, and wouldn't recommend either one of them again. Powersurge was a pretty long time ago, so it is possible (though I think extremely unlikely) that that may have improved. I hosted with BurstNET a very short time ago so it is doubtful that they have improved...

Of course, I was hosted on a UNIX server, so you may have a different experience with their NT side of hosting.

Well, first there was a problem with sendmail, which never was fixed the entire time I was there.. which was a few months.
Then, tech support was a bit on the slow side, and also we had some problems with accounts being setup incorrectly. I can't remember all of the problems, it happened a while ago and I didn't write it down or anything Smiling
But I'm not the only one who had problems:

I also know of at least 2 other people who didn't post on that site that have had problems with them also.

yeah Ive heard that drinking story. Of course there are always two sides to any story. Well I am with Powersurge now and sure they have their problems but overall they are better then alot of other hosts. The only real problem is that the tech staff does appear to place themselves on a "pedestal" but mostly they are nice , and quick. Ive been with them for about a year now and I have 3 accounts (2 NT and 1 Unix).

A year huh?? Maybe then you know Travis from powersurge. He was their tech admin, and either he left or got fired. Anyway, apparently he didn't like it very much when I left about a year or so ago, and I got an ICQ message the other day ending up in a conversation that was pretty disturbing. I'll email it to you if you want. Again, he said he was gone from powersurge now, but he was the systems admin when I was hosted there.
