It's been about 2 years since I last came across NoMonthlyFees.com. At that time, everybody was like, "nah, it could be a hoax", "too good to be true" and stuff like that.

NoMonthlyFees.com has survived for 2 years. I'm thinking of hosting with them. Any comments?

Well, personally, I like monthly fees since I am not binded to a long-term contract incase something goes wrong and I want to change. However, I know friends who use them and are satisfied. You'd definitely be better going with them than some company no one has heard of.

This company has survived some years, they are known for good quality servers - not sure about their support. But, 200 divided by 12 months is $16.66 monthly for their 500MB plan - still very competitive price for features they offer.

Still, you are tight up with long term contract and you won't get your money back when you change your mind after, let's say, 3 months because most companies will offer you only 15-30 days money back guarantee (by the way, I did not find any info on this guarantee within their policy page http://nomonthlyfees.com/policy.html)

Well, the choice is always yours Smiling

sounds too good to be true to me, if that $200 covers hosting for more than 2 years.

Nomonthlyfees hosts ValleyPages.org. They are the best. My site is never down and I have been with them for a year and a half.
They finance the great service in other ways (search for the parent company MPC Internetworks, Inc). Sides, you pay a yearly maintenance fee of $70 unless you host your domain name with them (I think cause I don't host my domain with them).
They have a 10 day trial to see if you like the features. I'm going to move valleypages.net with them as well.
Not to mention, they are lenient and understanding cause I haven't paid them for the maintenance fee yet (it's a month late).
If you do decide to host with them, tell them I sent you (cause it would help me out due to the late payment). Not by "the deadbeat" but by my domain name.

well it's sounding less "too good to be true" if u have to pay $200 up front and a $70 a year maintenance fee.

$ 70/yrX 5 years = $350//No monthly
or $4.95/month X 12months X 5years= $297//other host

Not much better is it? I just picked the lowest price on the net for webhosting that I found. We not even talking domain names and features...

I think $4.95 a month will give you something like 20mb of space. Very little features.

ValleyPages, does that mean that if I host my domain with them, I won't have to pay a single-cent...erm...forever?

Basically a one time 200 dollar charge you get:
500 MB Web Space
24/7 FTP Access Unlimited E-Mail Accounts Tech Support FrontPage 2002 Extensions
Web Site Stats CGI-BIN
MySQL Pass Protected Directories
Anon FTP Server Side Includes (SSI)
SMTP Server Graphical Hit Counter
5 Gigs Data Transfer & Hits Site Search Engine
Real Audio/Video Avail. URL Redirection/Forwarding
Java, PERL, C++, TCL, and Python, PHP4

You can get more info at Nomonthlyfees.com
Plus as I mentioned before, you just pay $70 a year maintenence. I can afford it (sort of) and I'm just a poor college student (for now).

I don't think $4.95 can get you 500MB

Besides, where else can you get 500 MBs and a MySQL Database, 5 gigs of bandwidth for 200
