New website hosting: stick with my host, or change?
Around 9 months ago I started a website with Globat. They seemed like a good, cheap host. I ended up getting the (at the time) 60/GB a month package.
Generally I've been pretty happy.
I'd been toying with the idea of starting another website. Anyway, I just got an email from Globat that says they are having a 72 hour sale and I can get any hosting package for 50% off.
The one I'm looking at is the middle package, with 3.5GB of disk space and 100GB bandwidth a month. With the 50% off that would end up costing me $7.48 a month, but I think that there is a setup fee of around $40.
I don't really keep up with the latest news in the webhosting world, so I wanted to know if there were any better deals around for that kind of cash (100GB of bandwidth a month for around ~140/year) I don't really need the 3.5GB of disk space, but I do need a nice chunk of bandwidth.
One of the few gripes I have with Globat is that, at least when I was using it, PHP Nuke (or maybe just PHP in general) was VERY slow. At the time, I looked into it, and apparently it was a common issue... Not sure if it's been fixed since but I stopped using it out of frustration.
Also, with Globat there is a daily bandwidth cap. I believe that when I was capped, my bandwidth was 60/GB a month and the daily cap was 3GB a day. I had a problem with my website not resetting properly if I exceeded the bandwidth, so at least for this domain, the daily cap has been lifted.
Does anyone know if I'm in any position to ask them when registering a new domain that I want the daily bandwidth cap removed? Or if I were to go to another host, is this daily bandwidth cap a common practice or not so much?
The way my website's traffic will be, I might use alot of bandwidth one day, but not so much the next.
Basically I was wondering if there are any good alternatives without the cons I listed, for around the same price after the 50% off. I don't want to register a website and have the company go under the next day -- I'm looking for something that will be around for a year if I pay for a year's hosting in advance.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Hello RandomFan,
Transfer limits is not a normal occurence within the industry. If they offer it, you should be able to use it is my philosophy. It's a sneaky tactic if you ask me. You can ask them to see if they would remove the cap for you but I highly doubt it. I would think they would have to do it for everyone on that server if that was the case.
There are lots of hosting companies who can offer high space and bandwidth allowances for around the same price so you should check around.
