i bought my domain name for them, i was new and thought that i could somehow host it myself, so i got just the basic domain name with no hosting services.

unfortunately when i found out all the details of serving myself i went to ask them if i could upgrade my domain name to be a site hosted by them, too bad they "can't change an account after its been made." oh well, avidhosting is hosting my page now, i wish i would have known about them before. i could have got my site for $15/year, i paid $40 from ns.

lesson learned, its worth the time to look around, i find hosting and domain names for sale cheaper and cheaper, but avidhosting is still good, and their service is great.

my 2 cents:)

Yes I agree with you, NSI has not been a popular domain registrar when ICANN and OPENSRS is now also offering domain registration.

When you have the option to shop around and even find a good deal to register a domain for $10 to $12 why would you pay $35 per year???

I use OPENSRS domain registrars where your can update your domain records in minutes using your username /password compared to NSI which may take days.

I had to battle 4 weeks with NSI to get a client's domain transferred!!

I had to transfer my domain from Network Solutions to 000domains.com and it surprisingly went all right. I would recommend you use 000domains.com if you have any problems with "AvidHosting", which I have never heard of.

I agree with Marc that 000domains is a reliable OPENSRS domain registrar. In fact I now register all my clients' and my personal domains with them.

Their support is great!
