Need host CT got me
Add me to the list of CommuniTech users that had their site closed down after it started receiving a decent amount of traffic. (average 8 gigs per month) Of course they blame it on CPU usage even though I NEVER received one warning from their reaper system (the system that monitors usage).
I was closed down all day with no warning at all. They have put it back up, for now so I can get my files..
I did start seeing different scripts chmod to 0 the other week So I inquired in their forums asking if they were doing this. I also stated that I would move any scripts if they were a problem. "Just let me know". Well I got my answer a week later when my site was closed down. They say CPU usage but I am pretty sure it was more bandwidth and CPU usage. I did have a script on their server almost a year ago that received reaper warnings so I closed that script down.
Anyway I am looking for a host that can handle a auction script with about 1000 user and averages keeping 600 items posted. That's probably my busiest script on my site. It probably draws a lot of bandwidth because the items are mostly clothing with pictures. I am not sure of the hits because I have never figured out how to read CT wusage statistics reports. I could post the logs here if anyone wishes to see them. With this auction closed down it's Needless to say I have a lot of mad auction users now. It's really a shame because all this could of be avoided with just a little communication on CT's part. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It’s sad to say the least. I’m personally a CommuniTech client and have been very happy with them. However what happened to you seems to happen to a lot of CommuniTech clients who become successful. On one hand if you had a site with CommuniTech and another site was using some absurd amount of system resources you’d want them to shut it down immediately, so your sites speed is not compromised. On the other hand it’s very unprofessional of them to just go shutting down sites without a warning. They should warn you by email and suggest a few options.

I have been with http://www.webhosting-network.com/
for a while now, you can talk personally online with them on icq and they will respond to every message, and they will do it informatively and politely. They used to be called Virtual-cities.net and they used to resell for CT, but now they have their own servers, they are great
email me at

Adam I am almost willing to bet it was not CPU usage as I said not ONE reaper warning for that script. I am sure it did have CPU usage with that many users but I never had a problem until I went around 10,000 Megabytes of data the other month for the first time. Then basically they started messing with me. Chmoding different scripts on my site to 0 without e-mailing me or admitting they were doing this. The only way I found out they were doing this was from reading their forums, seeing others post about this.. While CT may be a good host for a SMALL site I have never been handled so unprofessional in my life. After all I was not a problem customer I even ask if my scripts were causing a problem and they basically denied they were chomoding the files. All I asked for was a warning to keep this from happening. I had JUST started charging for some auctions and now I will have to refund their money and have already received almost 500 e-mail's in one day from mad users. This would of been very simple to have avoided period.

It looks like Communitech has done this to more than 200 of their customers, telling them to upgrade to dedicated from virtual if they wanted to keep their site online.

Hi LD
My site is hosted with a company here in Canada that bends over backwards to help. You can actually reach them by phone as well as email and you get answers fast. I have no problems with them and I understand that they can handle just about any size site. The URL is http://www.justweb.com
Hope it helps
