Low Cost Host? - Need low cost host for non-profit group
As a not-ready-for-prime-time budding webmaster and member of several non-profit goups, we would like (dream?) of a host who offers somewhere in the area of 2-3 MB space, LOTS of upload access (Hey! I make a bunch of misnakes!) some e-mail forwarding, but we can't take those free-bee sites that advertise the newest "whore-house", "flee-bag motel" or "mortgage rate for 2-points under prime" crap on pop-ups all over our screen. One of my sites already owns it domain name (http://www.calkoi.org) and the other site is made but the host we were planning to use just found that he ment to say his price for a non-profit was $60 per six months, not $60 per year. Granted, the folks need to make money, and yes, we can pay, but as low-key, non-profit organizations (read austere!) we need to be as conservative as possible. Our current host (virtuo.net) also has response times of between one and two WEEKS via E-Mail (is that a clue to their value?!)
Input would be greatly appreciated. Since I need to make a second non-profit site followed by at least one commercial site, then someday build a site for my own business, (is that the cart leading the horse?) I would hope to make it worth while to a host in the long run.
Thanks,
D.A.M.

You folks are great! Although I am extremely tempted to take up some of the offers you have made available, I will stay with the original provider for the time being. Tough choice, especially when you consider their extremely slow customer response (in most cases) and my uncertainty that they will survive long enough to provide the services we've already paid for, BUT... with your help, (competition always helps!) along with my finding their original E-Mail from early May stating both their price AND conditions, they are now agreeing to hold up to their original price. For 25MB space, 5 E-mails and auto transfer, unlimited FTP and bandwidth, etc., etc. and for only $60 PER YEAR! ($5.00 PER MONTH?!) with NO setup fee, it's a hard deal to beat. Had they stuck to their (new) guns and gone for the $120 per year for my little non-profit sites like they were starting to, then it would have been a very easy choice to switch - Thanks Chad - you folks have a good deal! And I will send others in your direction. Fact is, I'll probably go to you for my personal site and upcoming business site. You've got much better and more realistic options than brand "V" does. AND, it looks like you folks respond without requiring me to swing a club over your heads.
In the old days (back when I owned my own business in the mid '70's) they always said the three keys to a successful business were "Location, Location, Location". Today I would argue the three keys are "Service, Service, Service"!

Seems like there is an complition here we have. But tough that what the business is for. I have many free accounts to non profit organzations in our town such as Churches, Fund Rasising Clubs etc you name it. They have been happy and safisted with the service. Remember the keyword is "Service, Quailty and Conveince" then you will have a happy customers!
In some ways for any other interesting people who want a non profit organzation service, I can be more than willing to help and make an offer if they need. I can be contacted via email at [email protected] or ICQ me at: 15047260 and I will be in touch.
Cheers,
