Looking for a new host -
Hello,
I am currently trying to find a good webhosting company and I was wondering if you can help me find one that offers the following:
on a Unix server
at least 100 mb space, preferably 200 or more
at least 40 gb of bandwith
at least 1 IP address, preferably 3 or more
at least 5 email accounts
Email forwarding and alliasing
Telnet access
Access to log files
I understand that the features I listed about do not come with your average 20 bucks/month plan and that they will cost extra. Also, one of the most important things for me is good tech support, so if the company doesn't offer support by phone or ICQ and doesn't reply to emails, it is off my list.
Thank you very much for your help and I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Yevgeniy Leshchinskiy

Hi,
I'd make the same recommendation I did in the other thread, (forsite.net) but I'm not sure if they cover the 100mb of space you need without an add-on.
I'm sure someone here will have some good ideas though. You might check out some of the hosting review sites out there like
www.hostindex.com and

Hi yevlesh!
We have a package that is 200MB for $85 a month, and 400MB for $140. We are higher than the average hosting company, but I can't change it, since I'm selling it for someone else.
You might want to check into gettting a dedicated server. With 40 gigs, that is fine, but depends on how much CPU you use. If you use a lot of CPU, then you need a dedicated server.
This is my favorite web hostind dir.

I would like to say that you get what you pay for, but don't pay an extreme price though, just fair.
I would also recommend talking to the companies past clients and get REAL advise.

Yevlesh,
What is your price range? This will help both me and everyone else out in sending you to some hosts that can give you what you need. Don't expect this to be cheap as bandwidth is far from cheap and you require a lot of it.
<edit>
I just went to http://www.hostsearch.com/Search.asp#Power_Search and did a very simple search with 200 - 400 MB of strorage space and more than 10 GB of transfer a month. Most of the realistic packages are about $200+ per month for 30 GB of transfer so you should expect to pay $300 or more per month for that type of an account.

Hi All!
I don't know if VenerNet will. 30 Gigs is a lot, but what really matters is how much CPU it takes up. If you are getting it by just visitors, I think they might. You might also need a dedicated server.
I'm emailing VenerNet, and will tell you what they say.
VenerNet has unlimited as long as you go by their policy. I have been using them since June 98, and have had no problems. If they do have problems with you, they will give you about 10 days to fix it or time to find another host. They are not mean about it.
Thanks
Curtis

Thank you for replying everybody
I understand that the ammount of bandwith I need won't be cheap, but I would prefer something under 100 dollars/month.
Regarding ForSite, they say that they offer unlimited bandwith. Does anyone know if they really do or just say that to attract clients?
Also, Curtis, I looked at your site and while the 85 dollar plan sounds pretty good, I noticed that you have some restrictions regarding unlimite bandwith. Would my site at http://www.animationlibrary.com be eligible for unlimited bandwith?
Thanks,
Yevgeniy

Yevlesh,
I don't think you are going to find what you need for less than $100/mo. There are some legit hosts that offer 30 GB/mo. for around $100/mo. But once you go over that, it is going to cost you more than $100/mo. Then of course there is the "unlimited" hosts but read there terms VERY carefully and you will see that graphics galleries such as yours ARE NOT ALLOWED and are put on a bandwidth based account that will cost you more than it would be to buy a dedicated server. You also have the option of purchasing a dedicated server (most dedicated server providors provide around 50 GB/mo. with their servers) but the server is going to cost around $300/mo. I guess what I am trying to say is you aren't going to find a host that will give you 40 GB of transfer for under $100/mo.
Regarding Simple Solutions:
This page might be helpful: http://www.1simple.com/policies.shtml
From what I could see, I don't think your site would be allowed on their servers (Curtis, correct me if I am wrong). This will be a large problem for you where you have a gallery because A LOT of hosts restrict their bandwidth in that they won't allow graphics archives.
I wish you the best of luck finding a host and if you find that meets your criteria, please send it our way as I would be very interested to see what this host is offering for the money.

Hi yevlesh!
I'm sorry, but VenerNet said that your site will not be one that receives unlimited traffic do to the graphic archive.
Sorry, but if you have another web site, please come back by and check us out.
Thanks
