I'VE GOT A PROBLEM
My wesite was hosted by a consortium, but since I am no longer a member, I now need to host my own website. I am eager to learn the secrets of the trade.
The former webmaster only gave me info. how to download the pages in zip. but I can't open the pages. He used Front Page for e-mails.
Is there a program I need to download to edit my pages?
Please somebody help me.
Thanks a bunch,
Birgit Klare

Birgit,
Depending on the format of the pages you should be able to view the pages in your browser from your desktop. If the site is in ASP or a similar language most browsers will not display them without a server.
If your webmaster used Microsoft FrontPage to develop the site you may want to consider purchasing the software (all personal opinions aside). It’s about $60.00 if I recall correctly.

Adam;
thanks for your help...I stil don't get it. So please don't give up on me.
I have downloaded the files in Winzip and can open the page in Microsoft Explorer. I just cant find any button on the toolbar that I can type text, add a picture or make other changes.
One of the pages is: whomenue.html
my site: http://www.btk-sas.com
Thanks again!
Birgit

Birgit,
You’ll need an HTML editor. You may already have Microsoft FrontPage Express installed on your system. Otherwise there are tons of freeware and shareware programs available. For a list of “beginner level” HTML editors check out Tucows: http://tucows.cyberspacehq.com/htmlbeginner95.html
Good luck!
