How do i shift to a new Host?
hi,
I am sorta fed up with my exsisting host, cuz of many reasons. Now I want to shift my site 2 another better host. I have 150 Emails of our clients running on the previous host & I have a domain also registered with them already.
My question is that: How can i shift to the new host with out disturbing the Business? mainly emails!
please Advise...
Thanx

When you say you have 150 emails on your old host, how do you mean exactly? Are they on the mail server?

You would have to get the domain transferred to the new hosting company who would then set up all the email accounts again. You will have some downtime while the DNS catches up, probably 24 hours.

I would agree that a small amount of downtime would occur but as long as yur new host sets everything up in advance, which is possible to do, theat downtime would be minimal.

You could avoid any downtime by uploading to the new host using your new IP address before you change the DNS. After uploading to the new host, change your DNS. This is fairly simple if your sites are strickly html, but if you have alot of code, like PHP in your site...it may get a little more complicated to bring everything over to the new host and have it working exactly the same as before, especially if you're trying to upload to the IP instead of the actual domain.

It's a lot easier than these people are making it sound.
In WHM there is an option to transfer an account from another server.
That will transfer everything..All your emails and other settings.
