I am wanting to register and build a site but do not want my contact info available to those who wish to find out who owns the site. Is this possible?

godaddy.com has that option, I believe, other registrars may as well.

some registrars e.g. godaddy, provide "privacy" for additional $9-$30/year/domain.
it is your responsibility to keep an updated registrant info for any domain names you regiatered.
