Help me find a host...
A friend of mine is currently on zoom and would like to change hosts if possible. The only problem is, she needs three criteria fulfilled:
1. Over 5 MB space (not too hard)
2. No ads or at least inconspicuous ones at the bottom of the page (again not too hard)
3. No more than $5 per month (now this makes it hard!)
Anyone have any suggestions? I forgot to mention that she's also considering a domain name, so it'd be good if the host could support that as well. Thanks!

Try xitami.com you will be able to run your own domain on your own machine
There are lots of host out there who has this plan. IMHO, i would recommend you to look for a host that is at least $10/month and above to get both good support and reliable services. If not use Xitami and run it yourself.

I’ve used www.okayweb.com in the past and have about 5 small clients with them still. It’s hard to beat their packages and their support is fair. Lately I’ve had some problems with them and technical support with some of the advanced features (i.e. PHP, SQL, SSL). But what can you expect for $5 a month. Otherwise I’m pretty happy with them.

Please visit http://www.dzones.com they have very cheap hosting packages starting at $2.95/month Zone1 $4.95/month Zone2 which may be suitable to your requirements.
I have a domain hosted with them for Zone2 plan and have no complaints. Their CobaltRaq3 contol panel is excellent and very easy to use.
