Help! Anyone have Hosting Matters?

I have a problem with my host, I registered a domain name with another host, and then decided to buy some space on hosting matters cos it had the MySQL option which my other host doesn't offer.

The problem now is that I can only get to the control panel, but I can't seem to create/work on any of the webpages.

Should I buy a domain with hosting matters in order to get things to run smoother? I'm a bit confused.

Thanks.

do you mean you want to create webpage but unable to upload it ? or , do you mean you want a feature in your control panel that can help you create webpages (such as site studio ) ?

Basically I'm trying to build a forum, so I used the MySQL option and installed the php part.

But the link I was given that should be where my forum is located, doesn't work, and I don't know if that's because my domain name isn't registered through them, but another host.

Is your domain name pointed to the forum (DNS - name servers pointed to this host) ?

I suppose that I don't have the DNS working right. I'll have to see how to fix it.

You have to go to who you got the domain name from and get them (if you can't do it yourself) and point it to your new host. This is of course if the domain name is under your name and not your old hosts name.

Okay this may sound a bit stupid [but my knowledge on websit building isn't THAT big], but if I point my domain name on my new host, will I still be able to build my site on the old host site?

Also, what do you mean by if the domain name is under my name? Do you mean if the domain name is a dot com name?

Sorry if my questions sound stupid!

If you point your domain name to your new site your old site will not be viewable

When your domain name was registered it is under someones name, usually the person registering it but some hosts put it under their name. If they have they may not change it and hold it for randsom.
If you do a whois on the domain name you'd find out who it is registered to, if your unable to find out.
