I just bought hogsmead.com. Funny that it was still available. Now I just hope that more of the plot in future books will take place there Smiling

Having read all four books over the summer..Hogsmead, is that the town that the students get to go sometimes?

Definitely, I think Hary Potter will be around for a while. The fifth book will be coming out next year sometime wont it?

Yes, it's the town where only wizards live (no muggles Smiling). I thought Potter fans can set up homepages at Hogsmead, get a Hogsmead email etc. I'm not sure what I'll be getting out of this. I am thinking about setting up a membership mechanism and try to see if people would pay for this. (A small fee like 20$ a year or so). It's just ideas so far...

Right off the bat, the only thing I could see is that..the people most interested in setting a Harry Potter website would be kids between 12 - 17..you'd have to deal with the under 13s with parental permission. On top of that, they don't have cc or many other ways of paying for a membership on a monthly basis. So I'm not sure if that strategy would be successful.

Good point Ravi.

Also, is there a copyright issue?

Well dear friends. All my problems are solved Sad

The name of the town is Hogsmeade with an e and I bought Hogsmead.com.... That's what happens when you read the book in Hebrew.... Well, at leat I registered with Registerfly, so that's just 10$ down the drain and no more.

Hey Smiling look on the bright side, it should still be possible for you to do what you want. Jaiem was correct in saying that you should worry about the copyright issues (if you had hogsmeade and it got big they might shut it down or take it over) but you dont have to worry about that with hogsmead as its a slightly different spelling. I strongly believe that the domain doesnt make the site, its the site that makes the domain.

P.S. It has been so long since I read the books that I didnt even notice the mistake! I will pick them up and read again before the movie comes out.

You're right, but I did think this domain name in particular had some potential (had I got the right spelling). Because it's the name of a place where only wizards live and where they shop, I thought people might like to have an email @ that place and buy from the magical shops there etc.

Do you think there's anything I can do with the one I bought? Set up a web design site Laughing out loud?
