Get an IP or no? ehostpros.com?
I'm about to get a new host. I found ehostpros.com. Most references I've seen are good, although I heard they had some problems in November for downtime from DOS attacks on the datacenter they are in.
Anyone with them and have some comments?
Also, it doesn't come with an IP. I've heard people comment that you should get an IP address as it helps with search engines(they possibly take you more seriously in their algorithm)(this was specific to google).
Thanks,

how would search engines know (or care) about domain names using virtual ips? There are a limited number of ip addresses available -- virtual hosting is no indication of relevance of content.

They should be able to see which domain is the primary domain by doing a reverse lookup.
This is a page which lists some of the concerns with a dedicated vs virtual ip address.

I don't know if these are old issues that search engines have gotten passed, or if they are still valid issues.
Thanks,

IP does not play too much of a role in search engine optimization nowadays. There is a shortage of IPs and allocation from ARIN is based on the right requests and needs for IP addresses and hosting a normal website is not considered as a valid reason to have an IP address.
All search engines do tend to keep this in mind and therefore the lack of an IP should in no way affect your going ahead and signing up for a hosting account.
