Can someone explain to me how I can setup my website. I have a domain name that I bought with Godaddy. But I want to use the webspace that my ISP provide.

How do I go about? I am using dreamweaver and I imagine it's In manage site that I would set this up.

Please help

If your ISP allows you to tie a domain name to your hosting space, set it up with them your domain name, they will provide you with the names of their Name Servers (usually at least 2), Then on GoDaddy, there will most likely be some place to tell it what name servers to use for the domain name.

If you just want the domain name to get them to the site and you don't care about that they will see your actual ISP's URL for your site, check to see if GoDaddy has a place to tell it what site to forward to.

Sorry I can't get more specific without knowing your ISP and I don't know GoDaddy, as the only use I had from them was buying a domain from someone who would only transfer it to another GoDaddy account.

GoDaddy has a feature under the "Domain Manager", where you can change the nameservers--go there and edit the two entries (primary and secondary) to point to your ISP's nameservers.

Yes.It is possible Domain with one hosting with another.
In this case you should have to ask your domain name registrar to set the name servers of your domain name as per the hosting service provider.

Hi,

One point that comes to mind is whether registering with one party and hosting the site with another party will have any performance issues? Will the user's computer have to jump through a hoop or two to negotiate through the path set up by me to reach my site, if I were to register with one and host with another?

Hello,

This will make no difference for the user. In fact it's generally a good idea to keep hosting and domain registrations separate as it allows you to change hosting providers with ease.

I think hosting provider should made it easy for others to switch hosting to them. Like giving various write up on how to switch hosting for contents and migration of current contents. This would certainly help people like me who are not so tech savvy moving around Smiling

yes,

This is very good practice that register domain other pace as host.
Go ahead with ISP, generate or told them for DNS record for you domain.
than update it domain control panel at manage DNS record or follow instruction there.
