Does geographic location matter?

Well if speed is _REALLY_ an issue, and if there is a host you like in Denver, then go for it.

But other then that you'll hardly be able to tell a difference at all. Overseas does sometimes make it slower though...

Finding a host with a well-connected network (multiple backbones) is the key. As Justin said using a host located in another country is more noticeable then a host on the east or west cost of the United States.

If your site is the “Denver Colorado QuickTime Archive” and 50% or more of your visitors are going to be from the immediate area, then look into a local host. Otherwise just find a US company with a redundant connection.

I am from Denver and I have two hosts for sure that you can check out.

I use pci - smaller but I have never had a problem with them. RMI is used before and wasn't thrilled with them - but they were going through some growing pains. You might find you like them now.

Depending on your content, you may want to go with a local host too, for that local flair.
