Hi members of TWF, could you kindly tell me what you think of this ? thank you

I've order the RaQ2 server few weeks ago. I'm fed up and pissed off with Digitalnation for leaving me ALONE solving the problem for fwe weeks and i've lost 65% of the business. Lost sleeps and got terrible headache as well. The main reason i order RaQ2 server from them is because i readed this part of the FAQ

Do I need to be a Unix guru to administer the DedicatedRAQ?
You don't have to know any Unix at all. The beauty of the DedicatedRAQ is that you get Unix stability and functionality with a web interface. All the features and functionality of the DedicatedRAQ are accessible from the administration web pages. The only way to 'break' a DedicatedRAQ is to telnet in and delete system configuration files or modify these files so as to make them non-operational. If you do decide to modify configuration files, save backups before you begin!

I order this after i read this and sent email asking them. They told me everything are done through web base control panel. Now they tell me that in order to have your DNS running you would have to go in Telnet and do it yourself. may i know whats this ?

GIve me your honest comments. abotu this

Thank you
Eutosh.

Better for you to simply get on with your business. You might learn something useful. BUT keep an eye on the host now that you know they may not be 100% truthful and be ready to migrate your business.

The web interfaces are great ... but none of them do "everything". Fortunately, UNIX is easy to learn. If they are a good provider they will offer online technical manuals and email and phone support. If they do not .... then I would suggest www.alabanza.com

It seems they do have some control panel options for this area as well as full documentation at http://www.dedicatedserver.com/support/cobalt_dns_faq.html

They also recommend the book by O'Reilly and Associates titled DNS & Bind which really is an excellent tool!

call a lawyer, they'll most likely either want money up front and/or it want be worth the hassle. venting on this forum is probably your best bet.
