I am nearly at the stage to put my site up on the world wibe web. however I need some questions answered before I do so. First of all, it is just a personal site, but i really want to have a co.uk domain. This is because I want a clear URL. I.e not the ISP's URL / my name /.

Does £30 per year + £55 admin fees sound about o.k ?
This gives you unlimited email names aswell.

This is just for the co.uk name and then they are asking for £120 per year for 5MB of webspace.

This is obviously quite a lot for a personal site that is not going to make any cash.

I could get free web space with one of the many ISP's that offer it. Is there often problems with thede or are they generally o.k ?

Well what do you reckon ? Should I just pay the cash for a clearer URL and probably less hassle, or just get free web space with someone.

If anyone knows any cheaper way to get a co.uk, I would like to know. I thought, wwhat If I paid the £30 and thr £55 admin fees, and then asked someone like Lycos etc.. to run it on the co.uk ? Do you thimk they will charge me, or can it be done ?

Thanks for anyones help as it will be very greatly appreciated. You can probably tell I am still learning a lot and you will have to excuse what might seem like stupid questions..

Thanks !!!!

Try UK2.net They are the cheapest I have found for both UK and other domain names. You pay just £10 for a .co.uk domain name.

Thanks.

If I get a co .uk name with the company you suggested, can i get free space and then use it with the co.uk name ?

Do you think the space provider will charge me for this ?

Cheers.

NO NO NO NO NO
I got my www.javaplace.co.uk for FREEEEE. And I am not lieing. The catch is that they are an ISP and you have to sign up with them and have to connect to them to upload your site and check email. Still, go to http://www.freenetname.co.uk for your free domain. Hope this helps. Note that you must live in the UK to use this offer.
Good Luck.
