Tell me please when you are going to reg a new domain how do you choose the name for your domain itself? What things do you take into consideration?

its got to be acurate as to what you are selling or your service,try to keep it short so it can be remembered and dont use tghings like - that really anopys people

Also, make sure you can get all of the main extensions - you should have at least .com .net .org and your local TLD (for instance .us .co.uk etc). If you can afford it you should also try and get .biz and .info as well.

Ha good point i screwed up once and bought a co.uk name and left the rest then when i was doing well somebody bought the .com and cloned my site and did better than me

I think if you develop any domain very well then you may sell it for a good price independently in what extension it is.

What free tools can be used for choosing a domain name? I'm at a loss, I'm planning on a language site, but all the good domain names are taken, don't know what to do either to take something which is worse or address a adomain name owner and buy it?

When we are trying to chose a new domain name, we just sit around with a dictionary and thesaurus and brainstorm lots of suitable words. Come up with a short list and see which are available. It seems to have worked OK so far. It's surprising what is available if you just think and look.

Well, I make sure that the most important keyword(s) for my site/content is within the name. I also try to make it something either generic or brandable.
