Beware of Pegasus - incompetence... incompetence... and more incompetence...
Ok, I got suckered into a $5 per virtual server deal on a reseller basis and man what a bull$hite adventure I've been on since.
In my not so humble opinion, these guys are idiots. Not just idiots, but idiots who have to screw up the server at least three times per week. Since joining, I've experienced:
o Disgusting apathy from the "tech support slash sales" guy (it's almost a one man show but he brings in other boobs now and again)
o Erratic network performance
o An average of 12 hours of downtime per month (6 mos avg)
o Loss of several days email messages when the jackar$e upgraded to qmail without thinking of what all was involved. yea that's right LOSS, as in GONE FOR GOOD.
o Had to rewrite all cgis on 26 web sites several times due to their "policy changes" which were actually misconfigurations.
o At least 12 general umask changes wreaking havoc on cgis
o downtime, including a recent bout of 36 straight hours of it
o Files generated by scripts over time belong to three different users, a server wide user, the username the virtuals run under, and latest one is "nobody" since they screwed up upgrading.
o Currently I can't touch half of my files due to their most recent screw up.
o EVERY new account gets set up wrong. No kidding, every single one has had something wrong. The NEVER double check their work.
The dumbest part of all is that I cost them at least $50 a month in long distance charges from when I call to get crap fixed they can't be making any money off me.
What a load. Thank god my dedicated server will be ready by the middle of next week. No more dealing with incompetents.
One thing I would find useful is someone who runs cold fusion and mysql on solaris boxes... anyone?? I have a few accounts to put on your machines if you promise not to behave like the clowns I'm with now. If I don't find anyone with this hardware I'm going to have to install zope on my linux box and rewrite.
Oh, you want to know who it is that has mistreated me so? Pegasus Web Technologies in Franklin Lakes, NJ.

Well for $5 I wouldn't expect the moon but it does seem like you joined the cirus
I am often amazed by hoe many companies send me info/press releases with typo's! All it takes is a few minutes to read over your work...

No, I didn't expect the world but yea circus is the best word one could use to describe it.
Goes to show you, you can't even trust these so called "impartial" host indexes. Throw enough money at them and get a few brand new customers to go down and say how good you are and that's all it takes.
Curtis, I follow that link and it leads to an error.
