Much depends upon your circumstances:
Do you have access to a credit card? Do you simply prefer paying by another method? Cheque takes a relatively long time to clear, so should be avoided IMO. I also personally dislike credit cards (I have a warped view of finance - but it works for me Smiling ) and much prefer my straight-out-the-account-so-I-can't-spend-it-down-the-pub debit card. Smiling

Any way you look at it the security when using anything other than PIN as the CVM is poor, someone just has to get hold of easily-obtainable details and start spending... Even with AVS/CV2.

I prefer paypal and using my debit crad.

That said credit cards generally come with better fraud protection (the company foots the bill if a fraudster gets ahold of your details) and if you send a cheque at least you will have their correct address.

Although I haven't read it yet, Sitepoint currently has an article up on their front page, "6 Payment Gateways Reviewed." Might be worth taking a look.

Personally with the hosting companies we use we have an account with them and we pay monthly on an invoice basis which we pay by bank transfer.
