I want to predict how much bandwidth I need for my new site. I have looked all over the net to find a bandwidth calculator and every one gives me different results. How do you really predict bandwidth?

page size * views * days in the month = bandwidth/month

Check your stats for views and such, and for existing bandwidth usage.

Don't forget to add in images, style sheets and other files when estimating.

Haven't you taken math? lol... you started with kb, your final number is in kb.

So you're saying, in 12 days, you use 10,000,000 kb of bandwidth?? You have 130,000 views per DAY?

btw, that's roughly 13G per 12 day period, or over 1G/day of bandwidth, given your numbers. Make sure you're not counting file hits, but actual page views.

I dont get this, ok, I am predicting I will get 100,000 page views every month, the average page size is 60 kb how much bandwidth do I need a month?

(100,000 page views * 60 kb/page)/month = 6,000,000 kb/month
6,000,000 kb ~= 6,000 mb ~= 6 gb

So you're looking at 6G/month of bandwidth.

(and you should take basic algebra)

Good! Pay attention and do well -- this is the sort of thing that can totally screw you up when you're older. You wouldn't believe (right now) the things that require you to be able to do problem solving and algebra on the fly in real life. Wink

Also make sure that they provider isn't going to include email and FTP in your total, sending and uploading large files will eat up your BW....
