Bandwidth Limits

Several months ago I opened a website. Through sheer luck (because at that time I didn't have any idea what "bandwidth" was), I chose a site with a 20GB/M allowance. My website suddenly started taking off in January and I came close to exceeding that 20GB.

I should state here that my website offers templates that the user completes, then takes the generated html and copies it into an auction page (ebay). There are a number of graphics involved that all link back to my site through the generated html (although the file sizes are small). Up to this point my site has been non-profit, but I will have to start charging a minimal fee and see if people are willing to still use the site for that fee.

My problem is this: I need to find a reliable website that offers 40-50 GB's of bandwidth without restrictions andone that has a monthly fee of under $50. I've been going through a mind-boggling number of sites, searching for their "terms of usage", and eventually disgarding one after the other.

I finally decided to check out some webmaster's discussion boards and try to find some much needed guidance.

I read a similiar thread pertaining to my problem and ended up checking out Lunarpages.com. They e-mailed me very quickly when I sent them a question about their bandwidth limits (they say "no restrictions") and they seem to meet my criteria for the most part.

Does anyone have any info on them? Or on any other reliable hosting site that can offer more bandwidth at a reasonable cost?

Thank you for any and all help!!

I'm not sure if the words cheap and reliable go together... Why don't you replace the graphics (at least some of them) with text links instead?

You could also get a good web host for your site and get a cheap web host for these graphics and point a subdomain (i.e. buttons.yourdomain.com) to the cheaper web host. Then you simply load the graphics from the cheaper web host (i.e. ).

Thank you for the advice and info. I was afraid, Zollet, that "Cheap" and "Reliable" didn't go together. Like everything else in life, you get what you pay for.

Thanks again!!

Hi,

I am not certain if they are only hot-link the pictures or the entire page (i.e Framed pages. It might help if the web host was running mod_gzip this normally compresses the pages and saves bandwidth.
