Are .ca and .co.uk domains necessary?
Hi-
I'd like to get the opinion of some people who live in Canada
and the UK regarding domain names.
I have a site that is a .com, and I will be marketing services
in the US, Canada and the UK. Is it worthwhile for me to obtain urls with
.ca and .co.uk extensions.... will I gain or lose anything by it?
My site promotes realty agents in a unique way to
the public.
Thanks in advance.

you're just a bundle of questions, aren't you!
.ca says to me that the company is based in Canada (which is how the law here works), so it's not quite the same as a .com which can be anywhere. Ditto the .co.uk -- they are only for persons or companies who are actually IN Great Britain.

In regards to search engine marketing.. if this is what you intend?
Then register all of the regional domains it will boost rankings in regional searches i.e. Google UK and Google CA
for cheap domain names (UK anyway) I'd recommend 123reg.co.uk <- Cheapest I've seen!

It depends on how you plan to brand your site. .com .net and .org type domains suggest a world wide operation , where as a .ca type domian would suggest something local to canada. Some folks are playnfull with endings like .ws (some folks use it to suggest dot web site), and .cc but these are really top level domains for different countries. In my view, nothing is better than a .com domain unless you plan to specifically suggest something else. It is only my opinion
