Affinity.net and PCISD.com - Which host is faster?
CJ,
I just did a tracert at 10:30 AM and PCISD was a bit faster. They average about 270MS between hops where Affinity averaged about 310MS between hops. Now this really doesn't measure speed and there is no way to measure speed because my connection could be slow, the route that my connection takes to each could be clogged. There really is NO way to insure which is faster. It depends on the Internet traffic as to which is going to be slower at any one time.
PCISD is on the UUnet backbone which is the best backbone... It is the fastest although it is getting very large and beginning to see clogs every once in a while. I would say that PCISD has a better chance of being the fastest at all times.

Could anyone tell me which host is faster? I am on Affinity.net right now but I am thinking of switching to PCISD. It's mainly a speed issue for me right now. I would appreciate any information you have to offer. Thanks.

I have been searching for weeks to find a reliable web hosting company.
I manage seven different web sites and decided to move all of my domains to PCISD. There Tech support is fast and they are very easy to work with

About the fastest host:_ PCISD pings at 130ms w/ 32 bytes. Dids.com at 180ms w/ 32 bytes and affinity.net at 170ms w/ 32 bytes. My location is Eastern USA.

Paybackproductions,
I too did a ping from my mid-west location and the results were DIDS.COM 120ms; PCISD.COM 140ms; AFFINITY.NET 210ms. Clearly many factors affect the results of a ping test. I am much closer to the DIDS.COM servers than I am to the PCISD.COM servers so the chances of my connection to them is much better. You were closer to the PCISD.COM servers than you were to the DIDS.COM servers (our servers are clear across the United States from your position).

Because this entire thread has gone off course of its original topic, we were forced to clean it up. I have talked with the owner of the forums and he in turn talked with the moderator of this board and the three of us felt that it was in the best interests of the TWF. Please understand that these posts were not deleted/modified to "protect" my firm. The original topic of this post was the speed of PCISD compared to affinity.net. I left all posts related to either of these companies and/or the speed of each posted but everything else was deleted or edited. This board is not for spamming, promoting your own services (unless it is in the form of the signature), or any other unconstructive purpose. We (JP and the moderators) are trying to keep this board an enjoyable place for all to share knowledge and this thread has completely defeated this goal.
Feel free to post further messages in respondence to this thread as long as they stay on topic. Thank you for understanding!
NOTE: The decision to clean up this thread was not mine. The authority came from the owner of the boards because it was in the best interest of the boards. When you make a post here, you also agree that the owner of the board can modify or delete any post he deems necessary (stated in the disclaimer).
