OneandOne.co.uk do both Windows and Linux hosting... Windows is slightly more expensive... They're my host, and i like 'em... if you decide to go with them PM me and i'll give you my referer code

Hey,
I work for another uk based hosting company and we recieve calls from oneandone customers on an almost daily basis wanting to transfer to us because they have experienced poor support and/or service from oneandone.
I'm not saying that you will personally or criticising oneandone as I have no personal experience of their service but I just thought I'd warn you. Obviously, we only hear from the customers that are having problems but it does make you think.
That's all I'm going to say as I don't want to stir any trouble.

Gotta agree with Andy on this one. Getting domains released is a total nightmare in my experience. I have personally hosted with them for a client and did find the CS OK until I wanted to move things away to a new host. Got very messy.........

ok davidjaymz, can i still use a linux hosting on my windows pc, and do they give you MY SQL? iv looked for my sql but cant find it.

you can use the linux hosting on your windowa PC (I do).... with MySQL you have to be on the business plan as a minimum i think... and you only get one table... but (shrugs)
As i said i've had no problems with them at all. they are always helpful for me and i probably don't tax my server that much... i only have the business plan for the MySQL...
Andy, feel free to PM me the info on your company and the troubles you now of for 1and1... I'd be interested to hear... in all honesty I haven't looked at host scene in yrs... i could be getting royally ripped off so any info you've got i'm happy to read...

Only one table? Are you sure you don't mean only one database? Jees if you only get one table it nearly defeats the point of having MySQL at all! (whats the point in having a system that can handle relational databases, if they only let you have one table!)

I personally use 1and1 the us based version. I am very happy with their service. No complaints with service or troubles with any thing. The even threw in a $25 google gift voucher for ad words when i signed up for hosting!

I recently setup my Google adwords account and tried the promotinal code 1and1 gave me. I truly did get the $25 free. As I said earlier, so far I havent had any problems with one and one. I would reccomend them (at least the us version). They deliver everything they promise.

yeah me too
but no it's a database... i have MovableType using it, PhpBB and some tables that i created myself...
My only complaint with 1and1 is the poo stats you get... but (shrugs shoulders) apart from asking them to improve em what can you do

and as an update... I'm moving from oneandone... probably going to powWeb unless AndyK's company can beat what they offer
OneandOnes tech support was just not being helpful.... decided to take my money somewhere else...
