I use gimp, because it is free and for my needs enough for me. Obviously annoyed me 3 window instead of 1, as it is solved in photoshop. But this is probably the only minus Gimp which I have no major problems, because I am used to it.

Photoshop may be the best known graphics software and it may seem like everyone uses it. But there are other popular choices as well such as the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and free graphics software such as The GIMP and Inkscape.

I use Corel Draw. I've been using it for the last 15 years, and I am more then comfortable and pleased with it. Since I am, in a first place, vector based Graphic designer, this is my choice and recommendation. I'm not saying that AI isn't good, god forbid, but I just like Corel Draw environment, absolute freedom and endless possibilities in creating vector based graphics...

Through the answers of this topic, we can see that most people use Photoshop. In my opinion, if you really want to be a professional web designer, it is necessary for to learn how to use Photoshop. I have tried some other graphic designing software, my result is Photoshop is better than all of them even if some of the other software are easier to use.
And you actually don't need to worry about how to use photoshop, there are many online tutorials about Photoshop including video tutorials on YouTube. They will surely help you understand how to use this great graphic designing software.

Photoshop for me. It has very user friendly interface and has all the tools needed for efficient graphic manipulation. Its perfect to use in creating cool graphics from simple pictures, editing, cropping, etc.
Havent tried the two other programs though. Is there a link where I could download it? Kindly PM it to me or post it here.
GIMP is also a nice graphic software. Aside from being free, it has similar features found in Photoshop.

I have installed multiple OSs on my machine so I just prefer Adobe Photoshop when I'm working in Windows OS and prefer GIMP when I work on Cent OS. I just use GIMP for very fewer and smaller changes only. I prefer Adobe Photoshop for most of the time for image manipulation.

I've just realized that photoshop has always been at the forefront of graphics design all these years. Actually I'm starting to rather wonder whether sometime in the future, a new graphics design program will take over and blow photoshop out of the park.

Gimp all the way! I'm more into open source, much like Drupal. (CMS of choice)
Adobe is expensive, and GIMP does essentially the same thing. Why pay for something when you can just take a little more time to learn something else and save on costs / upgrade costs / etc,.
