what do you think of this logo
I know i posted my site layout on here a couple weeks ago, but I am already in search for a different theme:) I started this one with the logo, which in my opinion is pretty cool. Took me several rough drafts to get it right. Let me know what you think. Its for the Nintendo gamecube, for my gamecube cheats site.
if you have any qualms about the text, its the official Gamecube Font. just letting you know
THanks alot

Looks good overall. You tell what your site is about and also brand your site with the cube in your logo. Possibly the only negative that I could think of is the size. I would probably cut it into 2, maybe 3 parts to improve dl speed.

Yea, i was thinking the same thing. 20k is the best i could optimize it keeping decent image quality.
I didn't understand your comment though, could you explain it again.

Thanks for the input.
I want to think of a way so i can incorporate the logo, but also a banner (rotating) for advertisments, but i can't think of how to go about doing it, especially with that logo.

Well to brand your site is to give it a uniqueness and an identity. It helps people remember you (Oh, yeah the site with the cube). The logo tells people that you are about games, gamecubes, etc.
Here is some more into on branding.

You could get in trouble for using that supermario image. If it is trademarked (I assume it is) I suggest you remove it or get permission.

banners dont have to be at the top, true they get more exposure there but ruin the flow of your layout being at top.
nice banner
If you ask whomever for useage of the gamecube images (copyright) you could maybe ask for sponsorship, its a bit cheeky but ya never know until you ask. If you expect your site to become very big, i would ask about the useage of images before it became successful.

Couldn't i just say at the bottom of my page something like
Logo and Images are trademarks of Nintendo Inc.
Im sure they wouldn't care as long as they are given credit

I think if you start making money from your site then they could come get you, after all they are entilted to royalties. So if its just a fun site, help site, feedback or whatever you should be ok, but once you start making money off their product you better be prepared for a nasty email.
you using they logo etc could be seen as advertising for them, but if you make money then its seen as if your cutting into their pie, can be seen many ways but at the end of the day they do own the copyright on it, so be careful

oh i know. Their are tons of gamecube sites out there, and some try to make money off it, but i know they are trying to shut down the guy who owns the site, gamecube.com actually it is down right now. But the gentleman said that he had chosen the domain name before nintendo OFFICIALLY came out with the name of the gamecube. But i think they got him to take it down. That is what sucks about big businesses because they put down the small people that can't pay for defense teams.
