Transparent Logo Text Shadows Look like......
Happy New Year All,
I have a logo that is transparent. I made the logo in my graphics editor of choice which os Lview Pro.
The problem I have is that the logo when placed on a page with a color background looks all jagged and plain old lousy. Is there a way to clean this up?
Here is the logo:

Any help would be great.

Does it need to be transparent? IME shadows do not do well when transparent and always end up looking like yours do! Have you tried setting the transparency matte to the colour of the background it will be on, that might help a little?

Yeah I did that and that works well...but the place I want to but the logo is over a picture that is not a solid background so that does not work for this instance.

choose a colour that is in the image more than once and do it to a shade of that

YOu're going to have problems placing this over a graphic with the current technology limitations. If PNG was a realistic option it would be do-able but unfortunately IE doesn't support it. The best option here would be to make the logo and underlying photograph one big image.

Hello Megan,
Sounds like and option, but I am nor quite sure what you mean? How would I go about that?
Do you mean to recreate the logo by retyping the font and adding the other images over the photo I want to use as a background or is there another way to place the logo onto the image and have it be transparent?

Nope you'd have to do it all as one image and therefore the logo would actually become part of the background.

I'm not that familiar with Lview pro, so it's hard to give specific advice here. What you shold be able to do is drag & drop or copy and paste the logo text on top of the picture. Any sophisticated graphics app will do this with no problem, but I'm not sure what kind of limiations Lview has. You may have to completely re-do the logo on top of the picture.

alot of tricks you can do to fix it. one quick thing you can try, is setting the background layer to a color close to what your placing the image over (ie if it's going over a dark image that's predominantly blue use a navy blue background). theen soften the top layer a bit, and merge the two, and set the navy blue to transparent.

another thing you could do if you have PSP7 is set the feather on the wand to 1 or 2 and select & delete the background, should smooth out the edges.

Um, NYColt said that he's using LView Pro - I don't think those options are available in that piece of software, but you may correct me if I'm wrong.
Here's an article on how to get PNG's with alpha transparency to work in all browsers, just in case anyone is interested. Unfortunately it involves a really messy non-standard browser hack (thanks to IE/win's lack of support for alpha transparency in PNG)

Unfortunately this really doexn't help you much given your choice of graphics editor. Again, I'm not all that familiar with Lview but from what I remember it's more of an image browser with limited editing capabilities. It may be in your best interest to get a better program - your graphics will be much better off
