transparent gifs
I have a lot of gifs that I made in PSP with white backgrounds but it's not transparent. How do I make all of them transparent?

I know in photoshop you have to export it as a gif and then use the eyedropper tool to make the background transparent, so I would assume you would have to do something similar. I'd recommend looking in the help files or on the PSP web site.

I tried that and it didn't work. I put the background color as white and chose the background color to be transparent in the selections> modify> transparent color and I made an image with a brown little guy and colored in some white and even left some of the grey/white square parts showing(the transparent part) and when I put it over a background it came out as a big white box with a brown guy in the middle.

First of all, when you are setting transparent colors you want to avoid the white outlines around them, so you should put the background as a color that's close to the background color the image is going to be on.
It now sounds like you're trying to put the image on a new background. In that case, try using the magic wand tool and selecting everything but the object, then press delete. Then, you can drag the layer over any surface you want.
Hope this helps!

Open your image in PSP,
1)Color Menu -> select Increase Color Depth to 16 Million Colors(24 bit)
2)Color Menu -> select Set Transparaency -> set 256 color
-> Yes -> Optimize -> Yes -> Set the Transparency Value To The Current Value -> OK
Make sure your background and foreground color is set to white
Save image -> Done
Hope this helps

You didn't mention the version. New versions come with ImageReady which does the job nicer.
However you should be able to:
1) click twice on the background layer. Change the name from background to layer 0 or anything but background.
2) You can now select and delete the background leaving it transparent.
3) File>Export>gif89a export will give you a cruder version than image ready.
there is also a nice plugin that does a better job, forgot the name, might be shareware. Or cheapware. Look around on the net.
