I was wondering if I could get an opinion of my redo layout for a client. The original site was http://www.pmi.org/sigs/wipm/ and my version is http://www.paoliwd.com/clients/wipm/ . Thanks...

It's definitely an improvement and it's a better layout IMO than before and the colours give it more impact but I don't like the head as the background, especially where it repeats.

Julia - if life was meant to be easy Michael Angelo would have painted the floor....

Yeah, I was going to jump on the watermark for the same reason. The other thing I'll point out is that underlined text is a bad idea - the users will think they should be links.

Big improvement overall though.

Usually I like that technique but here I'm not so sure. You could just make the graphic bigger so the repeat won't be seen by as many users.

Overall I think this layout is nice but a little on the boring side. I guess you can't do anything about the colour scheme, but maybe something could be done to make it look a little less text-heavy. I don't know - maybe there's a photo of one of the ogranization's events that you could put on the front page. Or just a general stock photo of a woman working. Actually, I would make use of the tan colour in the logo (with the three heads) - that would surely make the blue look more interesting. Try using that instead of the lighter blue at the top. Also stretch the left side blue bar upwards to meet the header. THat white space in the middle there looks strange.

Thanks for the help everyone. Im going to ask this clients if they have pictures of events they can send me, etc... I was also wondering where exactly Megan thought I should use tan. For the logo where it says wipm, or for the page headers (i.e. welcome)? I am also wondering what white space Megan is talking about? It may be a pain, but could you post a screenshot? Thanks everyone!

There's a space in between the header graphic and the blue sidebar in Opera - sorry, I didn't check it on other browsers.

That tan colour could be used in a lot of places. YOu could try it in place of that lighter blue at the top there (which I don't like so well, but that could be just me). I think that using tan along with the darker blue on the right would make for a more sophisticated and interesting colour scheme.

Just a small addition, the small black text is hard to read on the dark blue

is very hard to read on a blue background, try changeing the background colour
