Ok so its not 100% graphics-less, uses 1

Am trying to redesign one of my sites with no graphics

see it here

[edit] picture removed due to hot linking [/edit]

I quite like it but I have to say that Laughing out loud but think its missing something, any ideas what?
Is it starting to look nukeish or templatey? (my new words for the week Wink )

Also does it line up on in IE6, NS6 or Opera7 (am using XHTML1.1)

it works in NS4.7 thou I have a little cleaning up to do

I like it!! Smiling

I think as long as the content is there, a graphic-less site is wonderrful. I have been seeing more and more of them in my surfing. Especially with CSS sites.

The only thing that I see on this one that makes this page look a little funky is the yellow bars beside the title doesn't align with the yellow bars beside the photo. Not a biggie but it just looks a little funky to me. Other than that....great idea and nice job.

Half the dropdown menu and it's surroundings is not there for me in IE6. Like if it was cut. Also the text is very small, impossible to read what it says.

I've got IE6 also. I can read the text, doesn't look small to me (did you change it?). But the text is still cut off to the right.

Is that a self portrait? Sticking out tongue

I too have IE6 and the right part of the text, and I assume the right vertical line to the box, is missing. As far as a graphicless site goes it's fine, you don't need graphics as long as you still create an interesting layout with colour, which you have done. IMO the 'HUMOUR4U' would look better in a different colour than the black.

I think it is missing another color. Maybe the yellow/white contrast is a bit too much.

Just my opinion.

Ahh, I had IE textsize set to small instead of medium. Bad bad Busy, why aren't you using CSS? Laughing out loud

Ok changed it, is it visible now?
**IE6 is a pain in the butt**

Interesting about the colours, any ideas what to change "humour4u" to?
And is the yellow to much because of the blue links?

Anyone try it on opera7 or NS6 ?

Zollet I am using CSS, font size for modern browsers is .9em might go back to 80% thou. This layout is xhtml 1.1, one above xhtml 1.0 strict

All shows now for me in IE6, Opera6 & NS4.7 doesn't even look too bad! Wink

How about making the 'humour4u' the red of the hover on the links?

Man, why do so many people use IE ?!? Yick!

So, what is it supposed to look like? In Opera the picture is on the left side of the screen, not centered.

I agree about the yellow bars lining up. Also make sure that both sets are the same width and the ones on the left side (beside the logo and beside the picture) line up with each other as well.

Otherwise, I think the design looks pretty good now. It's light and airy-feeling. YOu could try making the page background colour something darker - just to add some depth (while keeping the header and content 's white)

hehe useless information, did you know microsoft released over 66 security patchs this year, same amount as last year.

anyways, Thanks everyone.
It was supposed to be centered but forgot one tag which made it left in some, center in the other, so now should be all left and shouldn't be any cut off.
If anything is wrong click on the top "next" link and see if that page is the same (same page, different doc tags).

I tried the red on "humour4u" but it's starting to look playschoolish (that picture doesnt help).
Any ideas for a background color, everything I try is way to bright, especially in big screen sizes.

Because it's compatible with more sites than any other browser, it's more lenient, which may be a good and bad thing. It's also most stable for me ... Mozilla has crashed just as much and it has some weird quirks like you can't sort bookmarks by name easily and it's hard to maneuver toolbars -- I can't get rid of this Google toolbar I installed, either.

And most importantly, no other browser gives me the PageRank meter like in IE. There are immitations in Mozilla, but they are quite buggy and don't report PageRank, which is crucial in marketing and browsing the web for me. I've also grown used to it and it's integrated into a lot of products I use like Outlook. I like a lot of what Mozilla brings to the table (mouse gestures, tabs), but IE still remains my primary browser.

I agree with you Marc and I always feel bad for using it when everyone goes on about how bad it, is but I'm happy with it and I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Sorry about that Julia. Marc did raise some good points, but I still think that using alternative browsers is the way to go Smiling
