Wow! I've checked now. Thanks for the link, it'll come in handy. I browsed through but didn't find what I'm looking for. I've never played with actions much. From what I can tell, they all seem to create a new image. Am I wrong?
What I'm looking for is a texture effect to apply to selected areas within an existing image. I seem to be getting there using a combination of crosshatching, bevelling, and canvas/burlap texturizers but it would be easier (and look better I'm sure!) if there was a prefab solution out there somewhere.

Yeah, actions would be the Photoshop equivalent of a Word Macro without the viri.
I believe that you can turn any image into a texture. I can't remember off the top of my head how to do it though. You might check over at Grandmaster's place, Graphic-Forums if you don't get help here.

Taff, have you checked over at Actionxchange under Photoshop Actions? There are 384 different textures but not really a way to search on them.
