Taking photo's to use on web - Digital vs. conventional
Guess this deals with graphics, so this is as good as anyplace to post it.
Couple days ago, had a friend take some product pictures for me with his Olympus Digital camera. Figured that it was an expensive enough camera that it should take some pretty decent pictures. Needless to say, I was a little dissappointed in the results. If the picture isn't sharp at 640x480, it doesn't stand a chance when reduced to useable size in jpg or gif format. I might add that the camera was mounted on a tripod for all the pictures.
I know that I can take pictures with my 35mm camera that you can count the hair or whatever it is on a bumblebee's butt. (Have done it.)
Have never sent conventional film in to be processed and transferred to disk, so was wondering if I will get the hair on a bumblebee or will it be blurred somewhat if sent to say Kodak? Also, if sending to Kodak, is it better to use print film or slide film?
Anybody have any good things/bad things to say about digital cameras in general? Have heard the Sony camera is pretty good.
Guess I've asked enough questions for now.

I have had once experience with using a digital camera. The pictures severly lacked color and definition. But I was able to fix them for the web in Photoshop. If you have access to Photoshop, give it a try.
Good Luck

I have a Olympus digital that I use all the time. The biggest problem is not the resolution but the compression. There are two different HQ resolutions on my camera. The non compressed one can only be used by selecting it from software. Once it is set the pictures turn out much better.
