Slogan Help
I'm starting a hosting company (as if there need to be any more out there) and am looking for help with my slogan. Please make suggestions to:
Life, liberty and total control over your webspace.....
CPR Hosting giving life to the web

Hmmmmm.... that just strikes me as *very* American. As a Canadian I would probably feel kind of weird about that.
What's the name of your new company? Maybe we could help you better if we knew that.

sorry...
CPR Hosting
I wanted it to reflect the fact that I'm giving people the "freedom" to choose the amount of space they want, instead of pre-packaging it for them.

CPR Hosting... When I hear that name I think of CPR, in the medical sense... So you might want to say something to the effect of "reviving your right to freedom" or something like that.

Wow! That's catchy. Thanks. Originally, I was thinking
"CPR" in the sense of providing life and settled on the slogan of "giving life to the web" as you can see from my page cprhosting.com (work in progress).
As time went past, however, I thought that what my site was really doing was giving people control over thier webspace. Now I'm trying to combine the two thoughts.
Thanks for your suggestion though.

I would think that consumers are getting more and more wary of cheap slogans when the service/product NEVER meets the expectations. The only thing I could add would be to ensure you do not promise the world or anything.
Do we all remember
certainly not to the blue screen of death!!

Yes, I generally have a pet peeve about cheesy slogans. Especially when they are completely meaningless.
How about something like "CPR Hosting: your webspace, your feedom, your choices" or just "CPR Hosting: freedom to choose"

I was originally thinking about that as well but it gets involved in the whole abortion issue... I know in the US when you talk about one's "right to choose" that usually referrs to whether you are pro-life/anti-abortion.. Not sure if it has the same meaning in Canada, though.

I didn't think of it that way but I guess you're right. Maybe the abortion debate isn't as high-profile here as it is in the 'states... you don't really hear about it that much.

"freedom to choose" has definite political connotations in the US

Just had to ask:
Did you pick CPR for a reason or do the initials stand for something to do with your company?
I remember when my friend and her hubby were starting their computer consulting biz. They asked hubby and I for help with the name.
We came up with: Computer Business Consultants, Inc. which turns into CBCI. Worked for him and it's a biz been running for 5 years now.
I picked Show-N-Tell for my business. I do computer tutoring.
So, be careful why you pick the name as well as making the right choice. Do you really want people to call you CPR? Just kidding.

As someone who works in the medical field, I don't think this was a good choice for your business name. Maybe I am not a good critic on this post because to me CPR usually represents death. However, it you do use it, i like the "giving life to the web" one.

Actually to me, CPR gives life to those dying. Just a thought though.
I chose the name intentionally because I hope to give people a new way to look at the web and web hosts.

my advice....
write down a list of everything that you stand for and want to achieve with the service. Next, trim all of the nothing words away (and, we , it , they etc)and keep trimming until you have cut it down to the essential keywords for your site. keep trimming and looking for the most important keywords, dump the rest.
Once you have done that, if nothing else you will have worked out some pretty good meta tags!
Just look for the inspiration in the keywords. something might trigger an idea......
