Show me your CSS

I have created a new template style and on my website I have offered the download for people to take and see if they can fiddle with the CSS and make a cool design.

I want to add it here. If anyone would like to download the template and play with the CSS, please feel free. I would love to see what people come up with.

The base template I have here is kinda ugly (I admit), but the code is great.

Conditions:

- You may change the stylesheet as much or as little as you like
- You may add background images into the stylesheet
- You absolutely cannot touch index.html

Once you are done, please zip it up and send it back to me or upload the website somewhere for viewing, with the zip.

All the best designs will be offered for download (for free), and I will give credit to each individual that created a design.

Quote: but the code is great.

It *tentativly validates as HTML 4.01* because there is no charecter encoding.

The CSS has warnings

Hey what have you been sniffing? I just checked my CSS (which I haven't changed since making this post. ie: It's the raw CSS I wrote (by hand) without checking/validating) and it's absolutely fine:

I said there are *warnings* because there is no alternate font family specified.

As far as the code:
When someone makes a statement that the code 'is great', and it isn't.

Persoanlly, were I to do a template like this, I'd recode it from the ground up in XHTML.

There is no reason to get snippy...when someone says the code is great and it isn't...well do you expect people not to say anything?

Aside from the huge list of warnings....

I am not trying to be another person harping on you, but the last thing people are going to want to do is make designs for someone who is as caustic as you. The fact of the matter is there is no point in doing a CSS mod to a tables site, because CSS can't move the tables around. No matter what, it's going to look the same with but with different fonts, different colours, and a different background image, and that's not all that impressive.

This is a much better site for CSS file changing, not to mention the CSS Zen garden.

The code is fine, it's tables, and they work for positioning elements in a structured manner, there's nothing wrong with that. Nothing, unless you want people to make cool CSS designs, which they can't do, because it rules out respositioning the content dynamically from the stylesheet.

There is nothing wrong with the code, by the time I cut it up and place it into all it's PHP includes (and add the charset) and double check anything that needs doing it will work perfectly - JUST as it works perfectly and renders perfectly now (I've only checked it in Firefox and IE, because I have them open when I code).

Now what your problem is, is that you have nothing better to do than to pick at people. What you need to do is take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself where you went wrong in life and why you are the way you are.

I didn't not post this in the site review section. I didn't ask for anyone's opinion on validation. The code IS great. It's PERFECT and if you want to sit there on your behind and poke at people, well good luck to you. But let me tell you that it's not appreciated.

Back to the subject?

Please?

P.S. It would validate as XHTML if I added a handful of slashes. Whoopee. Thanks for the genius remark, BUT I AM NOT CODING IN XHTML!

My problem is that I am too insightful and it's a burden to carry. It gets hard for me to constantly adjust my thought processes to understand other people. The result is constant confusion and a chemical interruption of the brain.

That's why I keep ending up in these situations. See, it's kind of hard for me to walk through life leaning down to hear what people are trying to say. I'm getting a sore back, which makes me stoop. But if most other people would GROW UP, I'd be able to stand tall and people would appreciate my posture.

Can someone move this thread to the site review forums or something?

I agree. I do get a tad upset at times, but in my defence it's only because most other people don't understand how to communicate and I get sick and tired of putting up with it.

...or you're just an arrogant asshole. I think that is a lot more accurate.

Quote: My problem is that I am too insightful

insight (insightful meaning that you have the qualities of insight)
- The capacity to discern the true nature of a situation; penetration.
- The act or outcome of grasping the inward or hidden nature of things or of perceiving in an intuitive manner

Quote: It gets hard for me to constantly adjust my thought processes to understand other people

The exact opposite of being insightful.

You keep ending up in these situations because you're aren't insightful, and you tell us to grow up while you have temper tantrums? Yeah, this should be moved to the review forums, that way people can give you more criticism and you can cry about it.

Peace man Cool

I'm over it already.

I'd like to apologise to everyone who was offended because I didn't put a charset in my html.

I'd like to extend an apology, also, to anyone who has suffered hardship due to the fact that I didn't code the site in XHTML.

I'd like to thank my mum, and all my friends (you know who you are).

So, does anyone visit CNN.com? Did you see the recent poll about whether the US should stop paying it's dues to the UN? What was that all about?
