I am curious about those of you that have done e-commerce sites how do you do the shopping cart page (the page that they comes up when they add something to their cart). I have seen people do it several different ways:

  • Make the shopping cart page using the same template as the other pages with links to other areas.
  • Make the page hard to get off of. Generally use the home, back or continue shopping page to get off.
  • Somewhere in between these two.

I would like to have peoples thoughts on this. Thanks.

I would say

Quote: Make the shopping cart page using the same template as the other pages with links to other areas.

is definitely the way to go... you don't want to make a page "hard to get off", you want to encourage the user to continue shopping or visit other areas of your site, then checkout.
